Getting Started

Do you provide free estimates? Free
Yes—standard site visits and estimates are free within our NJ service area. You'll receive an itemized estimate in your Client Portal. Larger design‑build projects may include a refundable design fee that's credited toward the job if you move forward.
What’s the difference between an estimate, a proposal, and a SOW?
  • Estimate: ballpark price based on scope assumptions.
  • Proposal: firm price with defined inclusions/exclusions and payment schedule.
  • SOW (Statement of Work): attached to the MSA; exact materials, measurements, schedules, and milestones.
What’s your typical scheduling timeline?
Seasonality and weather impact start dates. After approval and deposit, we reserve a spot and share a target window in your Client Portal. We’ll message you about any weather shifts.
Do you handle permits?
For work that requires permits (e.g., certain retaining walls, drainage), we can assist with drawings and permitting. Permit fees and lead times vary by municipality.
How should I prepare my property before the crew arrives?
Please clear driveways and work areas, unlock access gates, confine pets, and mark underground utilities or irrigation if known. We'll coordinate any locates as required.

Payments & Policies

What payment methods do you accept? CardACHPayPal
We accept major credit/debit cards (Stripe), ACH bank transfers, and PayPal. All payments are processed securely in your Client Portal. Apple Pay or Google Pay may appear on supported devices via Stripe.
How do deposits and payments work?
For large projects, we typically take a deposit at acceptance (for example, 30–50 percent), a progress payment at a defined milestone, and a final payment at substantial completion. Exact milestones are listed in your Proposal or SOW.
Can I request changes after work begins?
Yes. Any scope change requires a Change Request. You'll approve updated pricing and timeline in the Portal before we proceed.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. RMR & Brothers LLC is fully insured and operates in compliance with New Jersey requirements. Proof of insurance is available upon request.
Do you offer warranties?
We stand behind our workmanship. Hardscape installs typically carry a limited workmanship warranty; materials carry the manufacturer's warranty. Warranty terms are outlined in your MSA or SOW.

Service-Specific Questions

Hardscaping: how do you prepare the base?
We follow ICPI-aligned practices: excavation to required depth, compaction, geotextile where needed, graded aggregate base (for example, RCA or ¾" QP), screeded bedding layer, edge restraint, and polymeric sand or joint stabilization.
Lawn installs: seed vs. sod — what should I choose?
Sod gives instant results and erosion control with a higher upfront cost. Seed is budget‑friendly and offers variety; it requires a longer establishment period. We’ll recommend based on season, budget, and site conditions.
Tree work: do you remove debris and handle permits?
Yes, debris hauling and chipping is included unless specified otherwise. Some municipalities require tree removal permits; we’ll advise during the estimate phase.
Drainage: how do you address standing water?
We assess grading, downspout discharge, and soil type. Solutions may include regrading, French drains, catch basins, dry wells, or permeable pavers. We’ll design a plan that fits your site and budget.
